PD-M creates high quality PPE with the help of KeyShot

PD-M, a small but highly regarded product design company, was approached by a leading NHS surgeon to design and develop medical grade face masks that met a number of key requirements including being re-usable, easy to use, and quick and inexpensive to manufacture.

PD-M have used KeyShot supported by INNEO Solutions for over 2 years to assist them with creating realistic designs in the concept stage of product design through to the development phase as well as for the final product and any required sales or marketing material.

The team at PD-M were very quick to respond to the PPE request and went through several design sprints as part of the process of planning and designing a suitable model. Once they had finalised the design, they moved swiftly to iterative prototyping during the development phase. They created market ready samples and in consultation with the surgeon and the manufacturer managed to refine the prototype.

Richard Hall, Managing Director of PD-M explained that KeyShot helped them expedite the product development process for this important and time-sensitive project to create PPE during the pandemic. “KeyShot was invaluable during this project as it allowed us to show photo realistic product proposals to key stakeholders during design sprints,” says Hall.

The result of the project was that PD-M achieved a high quality, medical grade solution which has received favourable feedback and been awarded a CE mark for the PPE. The CE Mark accreditation gives the product the seal of approval that it meets stringent health, safety and environmental standards.  In addition, they have also been shortlisted for a MAKE UK award which is testament to PD-M’s high standards of innovative designs.
