Creo Interface for JT

Industry standard data exchange

Expert View

JT is a standardised visualisation format to visualise and share 3D design data between various CAD systems. Creo Interface for JT reads and writes JT modelling data into and out of Creo Parametric, while retaining associativity. Changes made to the JT models drive updates to the corresponding Creo Parametric models.

  • Reduce errors and increase efficiency in multi-CAD environments

Overview

Data Exchange Between Creo and other CAD Systems

JT is a lightweight visualisation format developed by Unigraphics and adopted by the JT Open Community for data sharing and collaboration. The Creo Interface for JT is designed to translate structure, geometry and visualisation information contained within JT files. Using this interface, designers can visualise and share 3D design data between Creo Parametric and other JT-enabled applications.

The Creo Interface for JT supports import and export of:

  • Product structure
  • Body Colours

Benefits

  • Supports 3D product structure, exact representations or faceted data, body colours, and non-geometric data
  • Data import and export does not require a JT or Unigraphics license
  • Improves detailed design processes
  • Increases multi-CAD design collaboration
  • Reuse of legacy data, Unigraphics data, or other CAD data
  • Flexible, lightweight format
  • Accelerates time-to-market by multi-CAD collaboration from the start

Specifications

  • Import and export of JT parts and assembly
  • Import and export exact data (i.e., boundary representation, “B-REP”) or faceted data
  • Colour support for imported and exported data
  • JT data can be used within Creo Parametric for visualisation, measurements, and space claim
  • Faceted models: calculate mass properties; measure between faceted & exact; pairs clearance; create cross sections and datum features
  • Can leverage Creo Distributed Computing Extension (optionally available)
