Creo and INNEO present at Swisstech

2112/2010

As PlanetPTC Live events ran around the world in November and December, many of our partners were spreading the Creo message at regional events, like user groups, seminars, and exhibitions. In this interview, PTC partner INNEO tells us about the Swisstech show in Switzerland. In central Europe, Swisstech is the only exhibition between Frankfurt and Milan devoted solely to the subcontracting industries. It covers metal and plastic components and all the value-added stages from suppliers of raw materials through to system providers. Over the four days of the exhibition, more than 23,000 visited 600 exhibitors.

Markus Hannemann, Marketing Director at INNEO, was among the exhibitors at Swisstech. Geoff Hedges asked him a few questions about the event and reactions to Creo:

Geoff Hedges: What was your general impression of the Swisstech event?

Markus Hannemann: Very successful. Swisstech is one of the biggest events we attend in Switzerland, and this year’s attendance was one of the best years ever. It attracts many manufacturers from across Europe who we believe should be working with INNEO and PTC’s products to solve their product development challenges.

Geoff Hedges: And was there a high level of interest in Creo?

Markus Hannemann: Yes. We had hundreds of people visiting our stand, all wanting to discuss Creo and the latest releases of Creo Elements. Creo has really started a buzz in the industry, everyone wants to know more about PTC’s next generation design software.

Geoff Hedges: Is the Creo message meaningful to the subcontracting industries?

Markus Hannemann: Definitely. While the subcontracting industry has certainly suffered during the recession, this year has seen many of them grow their order books to the record levels seen in 2007/08. So, it’s important that these companies now deliver on-time, on-spec, and on-cost to their clients. But with fewer people on board, their engineering resources are precious – any solution that can alleviate the need for 3D CAD experts is definitely being looked at seriously.

Geoff Hedges: What’s attracting the subcontracting industries to Creo?

Markus Hannemann: Two Creo technology breakthroughs are attracting companies to our stand. The first is AnyRole Apps™, which offers the right tool, for the right user at the right time, enabling everyone in the organisation to participate early in the product development process. With many of the companies I met with, being able to get everyone to use a design application, and contribute to product development, is really seen as breakthrough approach.
Secondly, AnyMode Modeling™ delivers a true multi-paradigm design platform, so users can design in 2D, 3D direct, or 3D parametric. Remember that in this industry, there are both relatively simple components as well as complex systems. Being able to select the right approach, be it 2D, or another approach, and have the design fully accessible and reusable in any other mode, is the ideal solution.

Geoff Hedges: So has attending Swisstech being a success for INNEO?

Markus Hannemann: Definitely. The level of interest and number of new companies that have approached us have been exceptionally high this year. With what looks like a rebound in manufacturing — and the buzz around PTC and Creo – we’re looking forward to an excellent year.
